Welcome to the Gali Gali Cricket League (GGCL) Code of Conduct - the foundation of our values, sportsmanship, and fair play in grassroots cricket. GGCL believes that cricket is more than a sport; it is a community movement that brings together passion, respect, and opportunity for players from every street, lane, and neighbourhood across India.

This Code outlines expected behaviours for all participants in GGCL - including players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators - to uphold the spirit of the game, ensure safety, and build a respectful cricketing ecosystem where talent thrives.

2. Purpose & Scope

Purpose:

To promote fair play, respect, inclusivity, and safety in every match, training session, and event hosted by GGCL.

Scope:

This Code applies to:

  • All registered players
  • Team officials
  • Coaches and support staff
  • Match officials
  • Parents, guardians, and spectators
  • All individuals participating in or attending GGCL events.

3. Code of Conduct for Players

3.1 Respect for Opponents and Officials

  • Always respect your opponents, teammates, and match officials.
  • Refrain from dissent, abuse, or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Accept umpire decisions graciously.

3.2 Fair Play & Integrity

  • Play hard but fair - no cheating, intimidation, or physical confrontation.
  • Avoid tampering with equipment or field positions to gain unfair advantage.

3.3 Positive Behaviour

  • Encourage teammates.
  • Celebrate success respectfully.
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

4. Code of Conduct for Team Officials

4.1 Leadership by Example

  • Team officials must demonstrate professional behaviour on and off the field.
  • Avoid undermining officials or engaging in any form of harassment.

4.2 Responsibility for Players

  • Ensure players follow this Code.
  • Support player development and wellbeing.
  • Maintain open communication with league organizers.

5. Parents & Spectators Expectations

5.1 Positive Support

  • Encourage fair play and enjoyment over winning.
  • Avoid negative comments about players, coaches, or officials.

5.2 Respect & Safety

  • Respect the decisions of match officials.
  • Do not engage in abusive or disruptive behaviour.

6. Match Officials & Umpires

6.1 Neutrality & Integrity

  • Umpires and officials must remain impartial at all times.
  • Apply rules consistently and fairly.

6.2 Conduct with Participants

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with players and teams.
  • Address conflicts in a calm, professional manner.

7. Prohibited Behaviours

The following actions are strictly prohibited at all GGCL events:

  • Abuse or harassment of any individual
  • Physical or verbal threats towards officials, players, or spectators
  • Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or ability
  • Intimidation or retaliation against participants
  • Any conduct that jeopardizes safety or fair competition

8. Enforcement & Sanctions

Violations of this Code may result in:

  • Warnings
  • Match suspensions
  • Team disqualification
  • Season bans
  • Other disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate by GGCL officials.

Sanctions are applied fairly and consistently to preserve the integrity and spirit of the league.
